Haiti Local

The village is located in a valley along the sea, offering a sole main road. Leaving Miragoane, you enter through the cemetery.

Only small boats can anchor in the port which is not sheltered from the north winds and the tidal waves.

Formerly it was defended by a whiting battery on the right, and by a masonry Barbette battery on the left. From this last point, when the weather is fine, you can see Grande and Petite Goave offshore.

Pernier[]

In January 1803, Colonel Geffrard enountered a French battalion commanded by Commander Bérotte at the Pernier locality. He launched an assault, resulting in the battalion's dispersion. Commander Bérotte remained on the battlefield. On January 16, the independent forces launched an offensive on Anse à Veau, successfully seizing it from the French.
