History[]
• In 1791, the slaves rebelled and occupied the Chevalerie (English: "Chivalry") habitation. Baron de la Chevalerie, a white colonist, was the owner.
• On January 18, 1793, following the takeover of la Tannerie by the colonial forces from Biassou, Jean François established a camp at the Piveteau locality, from which he launched coordinated assaults against the colonial troops. Governor Laveaux ultimately captured the location after enduring significant resistance.
