Savane-à-Roche (English: "Savannah Rock") is a district of Petite Rivière de l'Artibonite, Haiti.

The section is name for the savannah located in the rural section of the upper town of Petite Rivière de l'Artibonite, between the Arnold and the Chapelle habitations.

The Morne Savane-a-Roche, geologically part of the Cahos, ends up leveling out in the Artibonite Plain near Crete a Pierrot, on the right bank of the river. The Savane-a-Roche leads directly to Petite Riviere via the Vincent Pass.

History[]

• In April 1802, Dessalines passed through the Oreste plantation, during the submission of Charles Bélair, after his insurrection against the French in the heights of Arcahaie.

• On February 16, 1806, Dessalines left Petite-Riviére to march on Santo Domingo the Gabart division, which crossed with difficulty the Artibonite whose waters were overflowing, and stopped at the Maugé habitation. This division arrived Mirebalais on the 18th, where the Emperor had arrived the day before.

• On October 11, 1888, General Rosa, commander of a division of government troops, after two battles in the Savannah a Roches against the bands of the northern limits, commanded by Success Grand Pierre, took many prisoners, among whom were Generaux Theodule and Plaisirs Toussaint.
