History

In December 1802, Levéille, black officer established in Olivier, marched against the French whom he defeated on the Sainte-Croix (English: "Holy Cross") habitation, located in what was then the rural section of Rochelois, municipality of Miragoane. While returning to Olivier, his headquarters, he was assaulted on the Lorquet habitation by Commander Ferboce, a colored man. The latter, beaten, returned to Aquin seriously injured.
