Route description[]

Western terminus and Ennery vicinity[]

Route 103 begins at its western terminus at a Y-junction with Route Nationale 1 in the center of Ennery town. From this junction in the urban core, the route initially heads southeast, departing the developed areas of Ennery and entering the surrounding agricultural terrain. The initial section traverses relatively flat agricultural terrain characterized by mixed farming operations and scattered rural settlements. The road surface in this section consists primarily of deteriorated asphalt with extensive gravel patches and unpaved segments. Vehicular traffic includes frequent tap-tap services, agricultural transport vehicles, and pedestrian activity.

Approach to Saint-Michel-de-l'Atalaye[]

As the route continues eastward, it crosses the municipal boundary between Ennery and Saint-Michel-de-l'Atalaye communes. The road passes through the settlement of Coudrai and crosses the Rivière Pina before encountering increasing development density. Notable landmarks along this section include medical facilities and educational institutions serving the rural population. The route crosses the Rivière Deo as it enters the Saint-Michel-de-l'Atalaye urban area.

Saint-Michel-de-l'Atalaye urban section[]

Upon entering Saint-Michel, Route 103 executes a series of turns through the town center via local streets. The route turns left onto Rue Camathe, then makes another right turn onto Rue Guerrier, which serves as the main thoroughfare through the urban core. The route then turns left onto Rue de l'Avenir before realigning at Rue Aine Diaquois. The urban section briefly returns to paved surfaces and features increased commercial activity, including fuel stations and vehicle service facilities, before the route heads east out of the Saint-Michel urban area.

Central mountain section and eastern approaches[]

Beyond Saint-Michel, the route enters increasingly challenging mountainous terrain with unpaved dirt and gravel surfaces predominating. The road crosses Pont L'Atalaye near Grotte Laurent before continuing through a series of rural settlements including Garde Sixième. The route crosses the departmental boundary from Artibonite into the North Department as it approaches Saint-Raphaël commune.

Continuing eastward, the route passes through the settlement of Garde Biassou and the village of Wallondry, where it crosses Pont Wallondry. The terrain consists of steep grades, sharp curves, and dense tropical vegetation with scattered agricultural plots. Road conditions remain challenging with significant erosion damage and seasonal washout areas that can render portions impassable during adverse weather.
