Route Departementale 1 is the main north-south thoroughfare on La Gonâve Island from Pointe-à-Raquettes to Anse-à-Galets. Originally gravel and rough, the highway is an essential link on the island. The total length of the road is 38.1 kilometres (23.86 mi).
