The bridge over the Montrouis river was inaugurated on Sunday June 3, 1923 in the presence of a large number of state and government officials.

History[]

• In April 1791, the colored men of Montrouis took arms against the English. Civilian Commissioner Sonthonax sent them a superior official to give an intelligent direction to their insurrection. When this officer arrived at Montrouis, he found nothing there. Brisbane had had time to stifle its insurrectional movement, pronouncing to the freedmen that the English government would treat them like its other subjects.

• On October 20, 1708, Abraham Cypres and Camus fell dead in an ambush that Toussaint Louverture set at Montrouis.

• In February 1802, General Boudet, of the Leclerc expedition, having been repulsed before Saint Marc, came to unload his Montrouis troops. In December of the same year, Larose, leader of the insurgents de l'Arcahaie, sent a division to Montrouis which overwhelmed the French, and passed them to
