History[]
This region is situated at an elevation of 3000 feet within the commune of Ennery and was formerly owned by Chevalier de Puilboreau, an ancestor of the Knights of Gonaives (Victorin, Fontages). His family retains a ring that once belonged to him.
• On May 15, 1865, at 2:00 PM, supporters of Salnave, arriving from the Cape and advancing towards Gonaïves, launched an attack on General Morisset's division at Puilboreau. This confrontation resulted in the defeat of Salnave's forces, leading to the capture of a cannon, rifles, and several prisoners. This encounter marked the beginning of a brutal conflict that ultimately resulted in the siege of Cap-Haïtien and its bombardment by the English. It is noteworthy that the Salnave insurrection commenced on May 7 in Ouanaminthe.
