Aristide Aubert du Petit-Thouars

History[]

This area was originally a plantation owned by Aristide Aubert du Petit-Thouars, a french naval officer.

In January 1793, a significant confrontation occurred at this location between the rebellious slaves and Governor Laveaux.

In 1835, the previous landowner, who shared the estate's name, was appointed to a commission dispatched to Port-au-Prince by the King of France to address the matter of Haiti's independence.

Points of interest[]

According to Eddy Lubin (2012), several historians contend that the Blain plantation would include the famous Makandal mill and an interesting aqueduct.
