Petit-Bois (English: "Littlewood") is a communal section in the Western Department of Haiti. It is the fifth communal section of Croix-des-Bouquets.
History[]
• In 1791, a slave uprising erupted on the Bellanton plantation, located near the center of the Cul-de-Sac Plain. In response, colonial authorities moved swiftly to suppress the revolt. Several of the rebellion’s leaders were captured and met brutal fates—some were broken on the wheel while still alive, others were publicly hanged, similar to the punishments inflicted on rebels at Trou-Bordet.

Petit-Bois (English: "Littlewood") is a communal section in the Western Department of Haiti. It is the third communal section of Croix-des-Bouquets.
History[]
Located in Croix-des-Bouquets's third section, Santo was originally a sugar plantation of the Cul-de-Sac Plain, on the banks of the Grande Riviere, complete with a steam mill, belonging to Mr. Felix Carrie.
• After seizing Croix-des-Bouquets in 1792, the Cul-de-Sac Plain's revolting slaves established their camp on the Santo plantation.
• In March 1793, Borel, mayor of Port-au-Prince, marched against Croix-des-Bouquets where the freemen stood. He had under his command eighteen hundred infantry, one hundred dragoons and eight pikes of cannon. His army camped at Santo and Beaugé.
• In 1805, at a barbaco given to Santo by General Germain Frère, commander of the Port-au-Prince district, General Pétion, commander of the Western Department, stood isolated from the crowd, seated under a tree near his companion, Mademoiselle Joute Lachenais.
"What," cried Gèrmain Frere, armed with a bottle of red wine, "How is it that General Pètion refuses to take part in our pleasures?" and, without respect for his superior, he approached his companion, and spilled the liquor in the bottle on her dress. Petion turned pale with indignation. , contained his anger, immediately got into the car and returned to Port-au-Prince. He broke off all relations with Germain Frère, who had long sought any opportunity to lose him in Dessalines' eyes. He no longer had anything but a service relationship with him.
When the took up arms against the Emperor in 1806, the people mistrusted Germain Frère.
• On March 24, 1812, the western troops were crushed and overwhelmed by the innumerable legions of King Christophe at the battle of Santo.
