Mirebalais🏛️ (97,755) This medium-sized city is best known for its primary medical center, the University Teaching Hospital of Mirebalais, the world's largest solar-operated hospital. It has also been renowned for tomtom, a paste made of pounded bananas. Its central location on the lower plateau has been a nodal point for commerce and agriculture for almost 300 years. Commerce, trade, and agriculture (coffee, lime, sugar cane, sisal, cotton, pigeon peas and rice) also support the local economy. Thermal waters and caves exist in the western part of town.

Saut-d'Eau (39,069) The breathtaking waterfalls of this sacred town are among Haiti's spectacular national wonders. Known for its holiness, this town attracts people nationwide to pray and ask for miracles to its patron saint, Lady of Mount Carmel. The local economy is based on agriculture (mango, maize, fruits, beans) and trade. The town offers several historical and mystical heritage sites. Every summer, these sites draw thousands of visitors.

Its predominantly mountainous landscape, with distinct rainy and dry seasons each year, has an average temperature of 25°C (77°F). The local economy is based on agriculture (beans, corn, sweet potatoes and peanuts) and small businesses. The town is also known for its location on Lake Péligre (English: "Lake of Danger"), the site of Haiti's largest hydroelectric power plant.
