Marmont (also spelled Mamon) is the second communal section of Hinche, Haiti.

History[]

Originally part of the Marmelade District, this position fortified by nature, was a subdivision of the rural section of Joineria, consecrated in 1875. On January 7, 1889, General Legitime's governemnt army removed Marmont from the Northerners, closely surrounding Hinche, and taking that city on January 23rd from the insurgents, who abandoned canons and other engines of war.

The capture of Marmont in January 1889 by government troops from the North opened the doors of the Marmelade District to the government of President Legitime.
