The lake of Miragoâne, essentially a large lagoon, is 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) long and very wide. It is very small at the East-North East end and is narrower towards the middle where it is only 0.7 kilometers (a half-mile) long. This place is covered with rushes. Its greater width comprises rains raising the level of the water from 1 to 2 meters. The altitude of its surface is 12 meters (39 feet).

Turtles, birds, caimans excellent pisquettes.

It is located in the rural section of Dufour, on the boundary of the departments of the West and the South, 8 km (5 miles) from Petit-Goâve and 6 km (4 miles)from Miragoâne. Its contour is evaluated 28 kilometers (17 miles) from Miragoane. Its contour is evaluated by counting its sinuousites. Its depth is about 68 meters and even 100 meters. Its waters flow north to east draining into the sea at Acul de Carenage near Miragoane, and serve for the use of neighboring inhabitants. This lake is crossed by a wooden bridge, the posts are made of stones.
