The journal of the Santo-Domingo campaign by Emperor Dessalines is dated from the imperial quarter of Laville on April 12, 1806:

After the expulsion of the French, Dessalines, the governor-general, initially established the seat of his government at the Laville plantation; he later moved it to the Marchand estate in the Artibonite Plain, at the foothills of the Cahos mountains, where he founded the city of Dessalines.

History[]

Situated between the communes of Marmelade and Plaisance, La Ville used to be the second rural section of Plaisance. It was formed from parts of the rural section of 5eLatrouble, which was established in 1875.\

The State owned lands cultivated by farmers, such as Raymond, Alexis, Chatrier, Capole, Joulin, and Chatard.

On June 25, 1890, Deputy Elie Benjamin introduced a bill in the House of Commons to designate Camp Laville in this rural area as a military post, but the initiative was delayed.
