During a visit to this public school, on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, the correspondent of Vant bèf info (VBI) in the North East of the country was able to observe the lamentable state of this public school serving the children of this section. municipality of the municipality of Fort-Liberté.
The walls and the roof of the school are perforated. Without doors or windows, the national school of "Lwazo" serves as a resting place for the herds of inhabitants of the said locality when the school is not functioning.
One of the teachers with whom our correspondent spoke, Jean Simon Édouard, indicated that the situation in which this public school is evolving is not new. The teacher estimated that since the construction of the building housing this school, about ten years ago, he has never had the chance to sit behind a desk made available to teachers in the classrooms.
“The few dilapidated benches in a classroom, although insufficient for the students, are used as 'desks' for the benefit of teachers. And, when the latter do not find benches to put their teaching materials, they are forced to put them in a corner of the classroom, ”the professor delivered to our correspondent's microphone.
"If we are still there teaching in this school it is not by any obligation imposed on us by the system", because the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) does not seem to be in aware of the existence of this national school, but we are still there "out of love for the children and for the teaching profession", concluded Jean Simon Édouard, visibly tired.
Although he does not believe in the willingness of MENFP officials to resolve the problems facing this public school located in "Lwazo", our correspondent's interlocutor took the opportunity to launch an SOS to those responsible for said ministry in order to save the “educational heritage” of his community.
