History[]
A morne separates Grand-Boucan from Dondon and comes to rest on the bank of the Artibonite River. It is the crest of this morne that follows the northern limit of the Grande-Rivière borough to the end. From Soufrière, the limit of the Cap-Haïtien borough goes east by the ridge of the following the same line, until you come to recognize the limit of Trou borough, which is located at the source of the Caracol river. Finally, one of the limits of the Mirebalais borough passes by the Saddle Ridge, and to the west of Grand-Boucan, to Fond-Diable.
• In January 1803, the general-in-chief of the native army, Dessalines, walking from Petite-Rivière de l'Artibonite looted Dondon against his authority by the gang leader Petit Noël Prier, his left column passed by Grand-Boucan.
• In 1813, Colonel E. Obas was in command when Pétion ordered cannons to be placed at Terre Rouge, a position fortified by nature, located near Trianon in the commune of Mirebalais. Through a large gash in the mountain, there is a view of the Cul-de-Sac plain. From the still existing traces of the mine chutes, it is visible that attempts were made to make this finding practicable in another era.
