Flamands Beach
About[]
The Bay of Flamands is on the coast of Cavaillon, between the tip of la Barque and that of Morne-Rouge. The Cavaillon River flows there. It offers a good anchorage to the smaller vessels who go there to dock.
The Bay of the Flamands, with those of the Mesle and Saint-Louis, form a vast bay of which the first two are well sheltered ports of the city of Les Cayes.
In the outflows of the river of Ravine des Cayes, the post office is obliged, to go to Les Cayes, to go by sea, way to the Bay of Flamands.

History[]
• In May 1869, the approaches to the bay were occupied by the troops of President Salnave against the Cacos. On August 25, General Cherilus Phanor failed the steamer Artibonite in this bay; he was pursued by General Brice, mounted on a naivre of the revolutionary party. The Artibonite was captured and taken to Les Cayes.
